Tips on Setting Relationship Goals Together in 2020!

Written by Norene Gonsiewski, LCSW | January 15, 2020 at 6:26 PM

Starting off the new year with goal setting together as a couple can change your relationship!

Setting goals as a couple can prioritize your relationship by encouraging you and your partner to set aside time for what really matters - you as a couple.

Goals also encourage regular communication, ensure you are on the same path, strengthen your connection, give you a reason to celebrate, focus on the positive and so much more!

Here are some tips to help you down your path of goal setting with your partner:

  1. Begin to set yearly goals in January.

  2. Move into setting five-year goals

  3. Once the goals are set, then break those goals down into action steps.

Areas to start your goal setting:

  1. Financial - do you want to save more?

  2. Fun - what does fun mean to you individually?

  3. Travel - where have you dreamed of traveling?

  4. Couple Retreats - would you enjoy a spiritual or educational retreat?

  5. Relaxation - what is relaxing for each of you?

  6. Parenting - are you aligned on parenting?

  7. Home Improvement - need a new kitchen, bathroom, or lots of minor repairs?

  8. Health and Fitness - ready to hit the gym or the yoga studio?

  9. Education/Personal Growth - want to finish that degree? Or, expand your business?

Enjoy the process with your partner as you begin to plan your future together and come up with new ideas.

Be sure to think Outside the Box and enjoy the journey together in 2020!
